Life Loops
Remembering how it felt when our eyes locked
with lightning bolt shocks to the brain.
Neither of us able to unlock our gaze,
lost forever in a way.
Oh, God how soft the touch of his lips on mine!
Taste of the sweetest honey.
Our story belongs to us not Hollywood
The story that drags behind our names,
as the whole world watches in some future timeline.
We were young and so in love,
until you brought me to the party.
The party forced us to part ways,
and I was forced to grow up,
while you stayed behind,
blaming me for your ways.
I grew up, you grew lonely
Moving on to better days, so they said,
I stole your best friend and started a family.
Couldn’t find a better man in you, so he would have to make due.
Meanwhile, you were busy drinking your life away.
I would see you, want you, but forbid myself from being untrue.
The electricity in our bond screamed of longing to connect again.
Bringing me to my knees,
threatening me to end my life,
just to be free of that pain of longing.
Why can’t God see that I belong…
